Suddenly a shadow rose from the water ahead. The bow of the mighty TITANIC crashed into an iceberg, tearing a 300-foot gash beneath the waterline of the starboard side. The damage immediately flooded the first six compartments between bulkheads. At 2:18 a.m., April 15, 1912, after extreme confusion, commotion and hurried dispatch of distress signals, the TITANIC sank to her doom in one of the world☐s most epic disasters.
